In just three weeks, two European casinos were robbed while were opened. The first was on 8 March at the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Berlin. The theft took place at 4 p.m. in the afternoon at Berlin’s Grand Hyatt Hotel. EPT game action resumed about four hours after the attack.
Four men armed with a hand gun and machetes rushed into the casino, in the tournament registration area, while the tournament was on. Other two stood guard at the entrance. After a fight with the unarmed security men, the thieves managed to get away with some money. No one was injured and the attackers did not enter the tournament area. The exact amount of money stolen was not announced, but the press speculates it’s more than 100,000 euro. (more…)
