The 2010 Grammy nominees are not a surprise. Beyonce is the leading designee with 10 nominations. Taylor Swift follows with eight nominations, both singers fighting for the most important awards: Best Album, Best Record and Song of the Year.

Swift, now 19, is the youngest individual artist ever nominated for Album of the Year award. On Grammy night she will be 20 years and one month old, while Janet Jackson, former record holder was 20 years and nine month old at the time of her nomination back in 1987.

Taylor Swift is also the first female country solo artist nominated to the “Big Three” (Best Album, Best Record and Song of the Year) since Shania Twain, 11 years ago.

The eight nominations that Swift received are not such a big surprise. In 2008 her albums sold in 4 million copies making her the best-selling musician in the US. This year at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, Swift won Album of the Year title for “Fearless”, being the youngest artist in history with that honor.  Swift is also the first country music artist that won an MTV Video Music Award with “You Belong with Me” (Best Female Video).
