Now, at the age of 72, Silvio Berlusconi is considered to be among Italy’s richest men. Is estimated that his fortune worth $6.5 billion. Berlusconi is also the most controversial public figure in Italy. He won a third term as prime minister in 2008 and currently owns a business empire that expands from media and advertising to insurance, food and construction. He also owns AC Milan, one of the top Italian football clubs, considered one of the best European teams.

Berlusconi admits he has had several cosmetic surgeries to make him look younger and when asked he always states that the way he looks has an important role in his life. He has been put on trial on at least six times for a variety of corruption charges but he always denied them and had been cleared in each case. Recently he has been involved in a sex scandal with prostitutes and underage girls. As a consequence in May 2009, his wife, Veronica Lario, announced that she was to file for divorce.

On 13 December 2009, after a rally in Milan’s Piazza Duomo, Berlusconi was hit in the face with an alabaster statuette of Milan Cathedral. The attack was captured on film and the attacker was identified and detained. His name is Massimo Tartaglia, a 42 year-old surveyor with a history of mental illness but with no criminal record, living in the outskirts of Milan. Berlusconi suffered facial injuries, a broken nose and two broken teeth, being hospitalized for four days.
