Greece struggles to recover

The Greek government was forced to impose a series of austerity measures in return for the huge bail-out of 110 billion euro from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.

Because of those drastic measures, Greece is under a siege of protests and strikes for weeks now. The number of violent clashes reduced considerably in the last few weeks inducing a more calm and relax atmosphere.

Protest in Iran mark the revolution anniversary

This week Iran celebrates the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution that market the end of the western influence and the start of the Iranian Islamic republic. The 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran contributed to the extension of the Islamic fundamentalism throughout the Middle East and South Asia.

This year the anniversary is marked by oppositions’ large protests started last year after the presidential elections. The opposition organized the so-called Green Movement, asking for social justice, freedom and democracy in demonstrations throughout the country. The dissident’s slogans are now quite identical to those used by insurgents during the 1979 Islamic revolution. (more…)
