Since it was created, in the early 20th century, the IQ test led to many arguments about its accuracy and relevance. The IQ test evaluates the mathematics, logic, spatial and grammar skills of an individual, skills also known as academic intelligence.

Recent theories say that there are many more types of intelligence that academic, such as emotional intelligence, physical intelligence found at athletes, and musical intelligence that great musicians have and artistic intelligence that characterizes famous artists. (more…)

Allergies represent a disorder of the immune system that manifest itself as a hypersensitivity to numerous substances called allergens. According to the most recent studies, allergies affect about 50 million Americans. The most common reactions for allergies include hay fever, sneezing, asthma attacks, vomiting, eczema, hives and different reactions to the insects’ sting (most commonly wasps and bees). The Simon Bolivar’s exhumation raises controversy in Venezuela

Since the beginning of 2008 the Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez decided to exhume Simon Bolivar, the national hero that died two centuries ago. Chavez created a special scientific commission to study the death of the national hero, the Venezuelan president saying that certain theories regarding a potential assassination of Bolivar must be investigated.

Also known as “El Liberador” (liberator), Simon Bolivar was a Venezuelan leader that liberated Bolivia, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Panama and Venezuela from the Spanish domination. He also was founder of the first union of Latin American states, named Gran Colombia, and is considered in all countries of Latin America a hero. (more…)

Do the students learn mathematics better using the computer?

The computer became an essential asset in the everyday life of students. The computer is mainly used for research and homework, but everyone thinks that the computer will eventually replace the teachers. Some companies and universities even developed software that teachers use every day in math classes.

Mathematica Policy Research Inc. in Princeton, New Jersey conducted a two years study to determine if the special software helps students to learn better mathematics. The total cost of the study is about $14.5 million, but the money comes from the U.S. Department of Education. (more…)
